Group 2: Toddler development, 18 months - 2½ yrs.
A play programme is devised that aims to meet the emotional, learning and physical needs of toddlers. This programme is regularly reviewed and evaluated in partnership with management and staff.
Toddlers are busy people, full of curiosity and are interested in developing their new found skills of mobility and speech. The play programme takes into consideration the balance between play, development, care and security needs. Activities include shapes, singing, dancing, out-door play, sand and water play.
Group 3: 2½ - 5 years
This age group has a Montessori class in the mornings, 9.30am to 12.30, with time for a snack and a break at 10.30am. This programme aims to meet the social, emotional, physical, language and learning needs of the children up to five years old.
The programme includes, pre-maths, reading, writing, introduction to Irish, the solar system, geography, nature studies, cookery, P.E., art and crafts, music and movement.
Children of this age also have time for free play and out-door play as much as possible. We provide time for rest and aim to create a homely atmosphere during the day.
